How do we engage with the city? What can Jeddah’s visual and urban landscape tell us about everyday social encounters, mobility and routine?
Join us to celebrate the release of Jeddah Roundabouts: Circling the City (2026), a photobook co-published by Art Jameel and FLEE, documenting the remarkable architectural and sculptural roundabouts that define and continue to shape the urban imagination of the city of Jeddah.
Conceived collaboratively by photographer Hatun Al-Harthi, writer Nouf Al-Harthi, and Olivier Duport and Alan Marzo of FLEE, the project grew from their meeting during Art Jameel’s first sound research lab, Echoes of Shell: Sounds of the Red Sea, which took place at Hayy Jameel in September 2024.
The public programme unfolds with a book launch talk, along with a tour of the Jameel Library collection, highlighting titles on public art and the current exhibition, At the Edge of Renewal, by the Khaleeji Women’s Library and Archive. There will also be kids’ activities reimagining roundabouts, mapping memories and shared experiences of daily interactions, connections and nostalgia around the city.
The events are free and open to all
