Egyptian soprano Laura Mekhail takes the stage at Hayy Jameel for an opera recital on the back of her performance with Maestro Andrea Bocelli in his concert in Al-Ula, Saudi Arabia. The recital is joined by Italian composer and pianist Daniele Ciminiello and will be delivered outdoors in Saha. Laura will perform a diverse repertoire spanning a range of classical arias by Puccini, Handel and Mozart, Arabic songs by famed artists from the region and popular musical songs such as I Could Have Danced All Night and Pure Imagination.
Laura is the second recipient of the Andrea Bocelli Foundation – Community Jameel Scholarship, and is studying at the Royal College of Music under the tutelage of Sarah Tynan. In 2022, she was cast in two roles for two different opera scenes; the first as Frasquita in Carmen by Bizet and the second as Amor in L’Egisto by Cavalli. She has performed extensively across Europe and Saudi Arabia. Her most recent performance was a classical recital by the pyramids in Egypt, organised by Community Jameel, Sawiris Foundation and the Royal College of Music.
This is a free event open to the public – RSVP to reserve your seat (on a first-come first-serve basis). Once full, registration will close.
