Something new is growing at Hayy Jameel!

In collaboration with Sangha Estidama Hub and Azka Foods, Art Jameel presents the first sensory edible community garden, under the Hayy Wellness initiative, and now permanently located in the roof terrace on the second floor.

Taking its name from the traditional Arabic storytelling phrase ‘Thabat wa Nabat’, the garden centres on the idea of being grounded, rooted whilst thriving and growing with and for the community. It is a shared space to connect, reflect and learn about all the elements that bring and make a garden a garden – from the soil and plants, herbs and trees local to our land and providing shade and produce to the hands, tools and wildlife increasing biodiversity and abundance to the ecosystem!

The learning objectives of the community garden is to:

  • Connect wellbeing to nature, health and sustainable living through shared responsibility
  • Promote learning that is rooted in ecology, storytelling and growth
  • Foster collaboration, artistic expression and environmental stewardship of the garden

The garden is free and open for all ages – we welcome everyone to actively participate, volunteer and help grow, flourish and sustain it.

Each month, the garden will feature sensory play, family-friendly activities and talks centred on community care, collective imagination and learning about food systems, wellbeing, holistic health, ethics and sustainability across the arts. The opening programme includes:
