Open Call: Kef Hayyak? Short Competition – Third Edition

Hayy Cinema is defined by its unique approach of curated and research-oriented filmic content that intends to nurture the audience in an atmosphere of curiosity and inclusivity, and this is your chance to be a part of it!

While Hayy Jameel is your community hub where you’ll be able to wander and explore, we are curious to know more about your own neighborhood. Whether it’s the coffee shop around the corner that you visit at the end of the day or the amazing view from an unknown spot… surprise us with hidden gems, people, and sites that make Jeddah so unique. Cinema is about perspective and angles, and we want you to choose the way you’d like to show us Kef Hayyak.

This year’s programme will include workshops in mid January and early February, followed by the ceremony in late April 2026. Full attendance and commitment are required.

Before making your film, apply here with your proposed idea and neighborhood of your choice.

The selected applicants will have the opportunity to be mentored on documentary filmmaking at Hayy Cinema by industry professionals, screen their films before a professional jury, and receive valuable amenities that support their filmmaking careers.

Requirements to apply

• Beginner filmmakers 
• New applicants only (not opened to previous participants)
• Ages 15+ 
• Jeddah Residents
• Parental approval required for less than 18 years old
• All filming should be done on a phone, the use of professional cameras is prohibited

By signing up you agree and commit to:

• Attending the sessions held at Hayy Cinema (mid January, early February & late April 2026).
• Being photographed and having your photographs published at Hayy Jameel’s discretion. If you wish to avoid being photographed, please inform one of our team members.
• Granting Hayy Cinema the rights to screen the film at the cinema, with informing you prior to the screening.
