JYL Art Award offers young artists the opportunity to showcase and exchange their work and expertise with fellow creatives based in Saudi.
Through an intensive bootcamp, one-to-one mentoring sessions and production support, participants develop original projects and strengthen their creative voice. The award programme emphasizes experimentation, critical thinking, and guided project creation within the specialized pathways.
Under the guidance of expert mentors, Fawaz Al-Batati for Photography & Audio-visual, Salem Awari for Sculptures & Mixed-media and Tala Qari for Drawing & Painting. Selected by distinguished jury members, Basmah Felemban, Dania Al-Saleh and Eiman Elnaim, these young artists reflect on the fundamental themes of homemaking, belonging and pluralistic identities.
Rooted in local landscapes, the works trace ancestral and emotional maps that extend to Turkestan, Pakistan, India, Yemen, Syria, and outer space. Here, ‘home’ is recollected as a vibrant patchwork, a constellation of distant geographies, algorithms, celestial networks, local experiences and shared memories. We witness an awakening of identity that is as much about the domesticity of one’s mind as it is about external landscapes. From the digital to the tangible, the ancestral to the automated, A House for Me captures a generation navigating their place in the world – excavating their own foundations, building window frames and opening doorways.
