January 2026 At Hayy Cinema

Join us this January at Hayy Cinema for an experience transcending cultures, voices, and collective experiences. A month of stories that brings diverse audiences together to explore themes of resilience, identity, family, and coming-of-age adventures.

The month begins with extended runs of December 2025 releases, including the family favorite Home Alone (1990), alongside acclaimed Arab titles. The Tale of Daye’s Family (2024), which follows a Nubian boy traveling to audition for The Voice, and The Voice of Hind Rajab (2025), an urgent and emotional hybrid of documentary and drama that recounts the heartbreaking story of Hind Rajab, a six-year-old Palestinian girl killed during the Israel war on Gaza.

Bringing Japan to Jeddah, the Hayy Matsuri Japanese Festival returns for its third edition across all of Hayy Jameel’s spaces. The programme features titles that promise entertainment for all audiences, from beloved classics such as My Neighbor Totoro (1988) and Princess Mononoke (1999), to Dragon Ball Super: Broly (2018) for anime lovers, as well as Renoir (2025) and Kokuho (2025) for cinephiles and Japanese culture enthusiasts. The Voice Of Hind Rajab is an emotional and innovative hybrid of documentary and drama that recounts the heart-wrenching story of a six-year-old Palestinian girl killed during the Israel war on Gaza.

The Voice of Hind Rajab (2025): On January 29, 2024, volunteers at the Red Crescent receive a desperate call: six-year-old Hind Rajab is trapped inside a car in Gaza and is under fire from Israeli troops. The team tries to stay on the line with her for as long as possible while racing to dispatch an ambulance to reach her. Their struggle to save her becomes a terrifying race against time… and Hind’s voice becomes the only window into the fear a child faces alone under fire.

Hayy Matsuri At Hayy Cinema: Third Edition

Join us this January at Hayy Cinema for Hayy Matsuri, our annual Japanese festival celebrating Japanese culture, cinema, food, music, and more across all of Hayy Jameel.

This month’s cinema programme promises joy, nostalgia, and entertainment for all audiences, from cinephiles and enthusiasts to families. The lineup includes beloved films for anime fans such as Princess Mononoke (1997), My Neighbor Totoro (1988), and Dragon Ball Super Broly (2024), alongside Renoir (2025), fresh from the Cannes Film Festival, as well as Kokuho (2025)  for Japanese Kabuki enthusiasts.

While Hayy Matsuri runs for three days only, from January 8–11, we’ve extended the cinema screenings for our audience through January 18.

Outdoor Cinema Programme

Join us this January at Hayy Cinema for Hayy Cinema at Saha, our annual outdoor cinema programme under the stars. Bringing back the charm of outdoor cinemas with global films promising entertainment for all audiences, from cinephiles to families.

This year’s program mixes both digital and analog format, with a classic Agnes Varda film on 35mm, Cleo From 5 to 7 (1962), 2 restored Egyptian classics featuring the legendary Um Kalthoum, Aida (1942) and Song of Hope (1937), new releases of regional critically acclaimed films, from Saudi Arabia and Palestine, Hijra (2025), and All That’s Left of You (2025) and a nostalgic ode, Detective Conan: One Eyed Flashback (2025).
