Join us for two musical encounters, in collaboration with the Consulate General of France in Jeddah, presenting French-Moroccan artist Karimouche, whose work blends rap, spoken word and social commentary to explore questions of identity, heritage and resistance. In her latest album Folies Berbères, she embraces a vibrant, poetic and contemporary sonic language that draws from her Berber roots and bold artistic expression.
Performing for the first time in Saudi Arabia, Karimouche takes the stage with Kosh, a beatboxer and James Sindatry, a multi-instrumentalist and sound designer, to create a cross-cultural dialogue layered with texture and moving between Eastern music, hip-hop, electronic and experimental styles.
On Wednesday, June 25, Karimouche and her collaborators will deliver an open session for aspiring musicians, songwriters, producers and artists to jam together, exchange ideas and learn about the dynamic interplay between voice, rhythm and sound.
On Thursday, June 26, enjoy a special performance featuring a local artist (to be announced soon!) that invites the audience into a space of expression, energy and emotions transcending genres and influenced by movement, memory and belonging.
Open and free to all – registration required.
About
Born in Angoulême into a Berber family, Carima Amarouche, known as Karimouche, is a multifaceted artist at the crossroads of French chanson, oriental music, trap, and electro. As a singer, writer and performer, she stands out with her poetic strength, biting humor, and sharp take on the world, taking inspiration from the likes of Édith Piaf and Missy Elliott as much as from Moroccan gnawa, Jacques Brel, and Nass El Ghiwane amongst others. Trained in stand-up, she has also acted in acclaimed TV series and performed hundreds of concerts around the world with striking stage energy.
James Sindatry is a passionate musician and multi-instrumentalist from Montpellier, who moves between jazz, pop, world music, and sonic experimentation. As a composer and arranger, he collaborates with numerous artists including R.Wan (Java), the National Fanfare of Kadebostany, Batlik, Wonder Roach, and Karimouche. A discreet yet essential creator, he also performs on stage with ensembles like L’Ultra Bal, continually enriching his projects with diverse influences. His refined and demanding musical approach makes him a creative and indispensable presence on stage.
Kosh is an unclassifiable artist, first recognized for his virtuosity in beatboxing, which he uses in a one-man show blending humor, personal storytelling, and sound effects. Trained in piano, he developed a passion for street arts at an early age and became a prominent figure in the French beatboxing scene. He even won a DJ battle without turntables! His show, co-written with Etienne de Balasy, was a hit at the Avignon Off Festival and has been performed in prestigious venues such as L’Olympia, Le Sébastopol, and La Bourse du Travail.
