Jeddah’s history as a port city and gateway for Hajj brought pilgrims, travellers, and communities from across the world, carrying with them ideas, materials, and skills. The city’s architecture became a living expression of this cultural exchange, with Mangoor forming part of the distinctive visual language of its traditional buildings.

More than a decorative element, Mangoor is an example of how craft, architecture, and function come together to serve practical architectural purposes.

In this workshop, participants will be introduced to the history of Mangoor and explore the principles behind its geometric structure. They will gain an understanding of wood properties and learn to use a selection of woodworking tools through a simplified, hands-on making process.
