This intensive three-day course with artist and designer Pharah Al-Ghalib offers a comprehensive introduction to wheel-thrown pottery, guiding participants through the full spectrum of the ceramic process.
Day 1
Clay & Wheel Fundamentals:
Participants will develop an understanding of clay properties, mastering preparation and wedging techniques. Practical sessions on the wheel will cover centering, opening, and pulling walls, culminating in the creation of initial forms set aside to reach the leather-hard stage.
Day 2
Refinement & Surface Design:
Focus shifts to refining forms through trimming and enhancing surfaces with a variety of texturing tools. Completed pieces will be prepared for bisque firing after thorough drying.
Day 3
Glazing & Finishing:
Participants will apply professional glazing techniques, including dipping and brushing, transforming their bisque-fired pieces into finished ceramics.
By the end of this course, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of the pottery process, from raw clay to glazed creation, and the skills to continue developing their practice independently.

Pharah Al-Ghalib
Pharah Al-Ghalib (b. 1998) is a Saudi artist and designer with a BFA in Visual Communication, majoring in Studio Art, from the American University in Dubai. Specializing in ceramics, her practice began with mold-making and casting before expanding into wheel throwing and handbuilding. Al-Ghalib is committed to technical exploration and traditional craftsmanship, drawing on her broad background in printmaking, ceramics, photography, and design. Her work centers on joyful expression while maintaining a sleek, contemporary aesthetic.
