This thematic programme invites children to “think like artists” by exploring what shapes an artist’s voice, from personal stories and surroundings to imagination and experimentation. Inspired by the different movements in the Khaleej art throughout the 20th century, the programme reflects on what influenced artists’ style and ideas over time.
Thinking like an artist means being curious about the world, observing your surroundings, and practicing more of what sparks your imagination. It’s about making your own creative choices, experimenting freely and learning to see the world in new ways.
Join us each month as we look through new lenses, ask fresh questions, and discover how artists see the world!
Monthly Breakdown:
August 2025: Think Like an Artist: What’s Around Us?
In August, we’re learning to think like artists by paying closer attention to the world around us. An artist sees what others might miss, the shifting shapes of a city skyline, the hidden patterns in nature, or the changing colors of a familiar street.
The landscape we live in leaves an imprint on how we see and feel. By observing these details, we discover new ideas and inspiration for our artwork.
September 2025: Think Like an Artist: What’s Inside Us?
In September, we’re learning to think like artists by looking inward and paying attention to what inspires us from within. Inspiration isn’t random, it’s often sparked by a memory, a feeling, or a part of our identity. It can come from our culture, family, or daily routines. By drawing from these personal places, we create artwork that reflects our inner world and tells our own unique story.
October 2025: The City & I: From My Window
In October, we’re learning to think like artists by exploring how we can see – and show – the world in new ways. Artists don’t always paint exactly what they see; instead, they play with shapes, patterns, and colors to break away from realism and discover fresh ways to express ideas. This might mean simplifying shapes, rearranging elements, or adding a sense of playfulness that transforms the ordinary into something surprising.
Special workshops and artists interventions to be announced soon, stay tuned!
