The Explorers Book Club is a collaboration with The Rabyah Reading Project that combines engaging book readings with a hands-on art activity inspired by its story to encourage literacy in young readers. The Rabyah reading project is an Arabic language led programme, with an objective to develop children’s emotional & cognitive skills through reading and play.

A World of Oddities: Surrealist Poster Design

Inspired by Japanese artist Tiger Tateishi, participants will explore his dream-like elements and compositions, then create their own surrealist posters using spray paint over the span two days.  

 Schedule Breakdown

Day 1:

• Visit Hayy Arts to observe and analyze Tiger’s works and themes
• Brainstorm and sketch out poster design
• Learn the fundamentals of spray paint and practice using test sheets

• Start spray painting the poster
• Add finals details and layers to complete artwork

Foldable Kingdom: Crafting 3D Landscapes of Saudi

In celebration of Saudi National Day, children will create their own zigzag zine inspired by Saudi culture and landscapes. Using coloured paper, drawing materials, and simple paper-cutting and folding techniques, they will explore how layers, shapes, and folds can create depth and dimension. Through hands-on making, children will experiment with paper construction and composition to transform their ideas into a playful three-dimensional visual story.

Tales in Between: Book Nook Making

In this hand-on activity, participants will design and handcraft their own book nook using materials such as cardboard, colored paper. Through guided prompts, students will map their inner worlds and craft them from recycled materials. This hands-on process encourages eco-friendly artmaking, rekindles an appreciation for books, and lets children leave their personal creative touch everywhere they go.
