The Jameel Arts & Health Lab and NYU Steinhardt, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Art Jameel, and EOA/CULTURUNNERS, are offering a four-day Introduction to Arts & Health course at Hayy Jameel, Jeddah, from 30 November to 4 December 2025.
This course is designed for artists, health practitioners, educators, cultural administrators, and advocates interested in expanding their knowledge of the role of the arts in health and in developing practical skills to integrate arts and health approaches in their work. Participants who attend the full program will receive a Certificate of Completion from the Jameel Arts & Health Lab and NYU Steinhardt.
Course Overview
The Introduction to Arts & Health course combines theory, hands-on learning, and local and international case studies across focus areas such as:
- Youth mental health
- Creative aging
- Workplace wellbeing
- Community health and post-conflict wellbeing
Participants will explore the history of the arts and health field, understand key concepts and current research, and discover practical ways to integrate the arts into existing health and cultural programs.

- Learn about the history and growth of the arts and health field
- Understand key definitions and frameworks guiding current practice
- Explore real-world examples from local and international programs
- Identify ways to apply arts and health approaches in care programs and cultural initiatives

About the Jameel Arts & Health Lab
Launched in January 2023 by the WHO Regional Office for Europe, NYU Steinhardt, Community Jameel, and CULTURUNNERS, the Jameel Arts & Health Lab is a global initiative to improve health and wellbeing through the arts. Focused on overlooked and underserved communities, the Lab leverages scientific evidence, artist-led advocacy, capacity building, and a global Healing Arts campaign to drive the integration of the arts into mainstream healthcare.
