Join us this August at Hayy Cinema as we celebrate five years since the release of Shams Al-Ma’arif (2020) with a special retrospective on the locally beloved Godus Brothers, featuring an exclusive Director’s Cut of the film, live table reads, and masterclasses. In honor of International Cat Day, we’re also hosting a special screening of the Oscar-winning animated adventure Flow (2024) (and yes, cats are welcome in the audience!)

Five years after its original release, Shams Al-Ma’arif by the locally beloved filmmaking duo Godus Bros returns to the big screen! This time, in a never-before-seen Director’s Cut exclusively at Hayy Cinema with the filmmakers presence in this retrospective weekend with films, masterclasses, and exclusive chances to meet the cast and crew!

The Godus Bros, the filmmaking duo of brothers Sohayb and Faris Godus, began as a YouTube channel that quickly gained popularity among Saudi youth in 2010 and onwards. From short films to creative content, they paved the way for a new generation of Saudi storytellers, offering a bold and authentic local voice. With feature films like Shams Al-Ma’arif and Ahlam Al-Asr, they cemented their place in the Saudi filmmaking scene. You know it’s a Godus Bros production the moment it starts; humorous, authentic, and deeply engaged with the local audience.
