Hayy Cinema: Jeddah’s newest independent cinema

Hayy Cinema is defined by its curated approach to presenting films and intent in nurturing local audiences in an atmosphere of curiosity and inclusivity.

 Opening in the spring 2022, the independent audio-visual centre includes a 165-seat theatre, a community screening room and a multimedia library and educational space. Imagined as a year-round home for the Saudi film community and local cine-enthusiasts, the cinema is designed by Jeddah-based architectural practice Bricklab and awarded through a highly competitive international design competition run by Art Jameel. The launch of Hayy Cinema culminates the Hayy Jameel opening season with a series of programming and special Ramadan calendar centred around nostalgia and the moving image.
