Job Description
The primary focus of this role is to support the launch of Jameel Library at Hayy, which includes organising books and resources, compiling bibliographies, and supporting research programmes. The role also includes work with our learning team on life-long learning programmes, including Hayy Explorers for children, youth programmes, and beyond.
Accountability
The Intern reports to the Learning and Research Department.
Responsibilities and Duties
General
- Assist library coordinator in organising, selecting, and cataloguing books and multimedia resources.
- Support in the development and implementation of various research programmes and initiatives.
- Weekly shifts at Hayy Explorers supporting children’s programmes preparation and facilitation.
- Conduct Hayy Arts tours for visiting children, families, and schools, and walk them through learning kits and related activities.
- Actively monitor learning and research updates and ensure they are reflected on the Hayy Jameel website in collaboration with the communications team.
- Other duties as management deems fit
Qualifications and Experience
- University student or recent graduate
- Available for a full-time 4-month internship between Oct 2024 and February 2025
- Skilled writer with a love for reading and research in the humanities/ arts and culture.
- Open to collaboration and working with researchers and educators and artists across different institutions
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
- Excellent time management, communication (verbal and written), and organisation skills
- Passion for arts, books, publishing, multimedia resources, and arts research/education
- Saudi Nationals or Saudi residency holders
- English and Arabic fluency
- Drivers licence is a plus
Conditions of Work
- 3-month internship based at Hayy Jameel, Jeddah
- Occasional weekend and evening work according to workload is also required
