Graphic Designer ( Freelancer )

About the opportunity

The organisation is seeking a versatile and detail-oriented Freelance Graphic Designer to support the Marketing and Communications team at Hayy Jameel across exhibitions, public programmes, workshops, events, campaigns and organisational initiatives.

Working within Art Jameel’s established visual identities and approved creative directions, the designer will focus primarily on the development, adaptation and production of marketing and communications collateral across digital and print platforms.

The role is suited to a designer who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, agency-style environment: translating briefs and approved creative directions into strong, consistent visual outputs; adapting designs across multiple formats and channels; and managing a high volume of day-to-day design requirements with accuracy and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and produce high-quality graphic materials for Marketing and Communications across digital and print platforms, including social media assets, campaign materials, invitations, posters, email graphics, website assets, digital screens, presentations and other promotional collateral.
  • Develop and adapt campaign and event collateral for exhibitions, public programmes, workshops, events and organisational initiatives.
  • Apply and extend established Art Jameel, programme and project visual identities across multiple formats while maintaining consistency, visual quality and brand coherence.
  • Translate approved creative concepts into platform-specific adaptations across different sizes, formats and communication channels.
  • Create bilingual Arabic and English layouts with strong attention to typography, hierarchy and balance.
  • Bring fresh creative thinking to marketing and communications collateral while working within established visual identities and approved creative directions.
  • Prepare accurate, production-ready artwork for print and digital delivery, including correct dimensions, resolution, colour modes, bleeds, file formats and packaging.
  • Support print and production requirements and coordinate with suppliers where needed.
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing and Communications and relevant internal teams to understand briefs, audiences, content, timelines and production requirements.
  • Manage multiple briefs and deadlines independently, maintain an organised work calendar, and communicate progress, risks and dependencies proactively.
  • Incorporate feedback efficiently, maintain clear version control, and deliver well-organised source files and final assets.
  • Support the maintenance of the company shared drive, ensuring working files, final assets and project documentation are consistently organised and archived.
  • Participate in project check-ins, production reviews and on-site coordination as required.

Expected deliverables

Deliverables will vary by project and will be defined through individual briefs. Typical assignments may include:

  • Creative proposals for marketing collateral within established project identities and approved creative directions.
  • Social media and digital campaign asset packages across multiple platforms and formats.
  • Coordinated marketing and event collateral across print and digital applications.
  • Posters, invitations, email graphics, website assets, digital screens and other promotional materials.
  • Adaptations of established visual identities across relevant communication touchpoints.
  • Platform-specific adaptations, resized assets and bilingual variations.
  • Presentation and communication materials.
  • Print-ready PDFs and supplier-ready production files.
  • Editable source files with linked assets and clear versioning.
  • Final asset handover and archive according to the organisation’s agreed folder structure.

Required qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication or a closely related field.
  • At least three years of relevant professional graphic design experience; experience within a design studio, creative agency, cultural organisation or similarly fast-paced environment is preferred.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating campaign development, social and digital communications, print collateral, bilingual design, and the ability to extend an established visual identity across multiple applications.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop. Adobe After effects is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt a core design or creative direction across multiple channels, sizes and production specifications with speed and accuracy.
  • Strong understanding of typography, layout, composition, colour, image preparation and print-production requirements.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple briefs and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Professional fluency in both Arabic and English, with the ability to work confidently with bilingual content and layouts.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both design and non-design teams.

Working arrangement

  • Contract period: 4 months
  • Location: Office-based / on-site at Hayy Jameel.
  • The freelancer is expected to be available during agreed working hours and for relevant meetings, reviews and on-site production coordination.
