Introduction
Hayy Jameel is Jeddah’s dedicated home for the arts. It is developed and managed by Art Jameel. Hayy references an Arabic word for neighbourhood, denoting the convivial and collaborative nature of the complex and its intent on bringing together a wide range of creative disciplines in one destination.It is the place where you meet artists from diverse backgrounds. It is a community of creatives, a home dedicated for the artists and art lovers! Since opening its doors to the public in December 2021, Hayy has hosted over 7 exhibitions, 30 workshops, 4 music performances and various other events.
Role:
Art Jameel is looking for an enthusiastic intern based in Jeddah to support the Exhibitions Department during Hayy Jameel’s upcoming exhibition openings. This role includes assisting with research for upcoming exhibitions, the installation of the exhibition, opening days, and subsequent public programmes. Following Art Jameel’s life-long learning philosophy, the exhibition internship offers hands-on mentorship and coaching for those that want to pursue careers in the arts. The position is best suited to an outgoing candidate who is passionate about arts, has strong organisation and communication skills, and is open to learning.
The exhibitions intern will work closely with Art Jameel’s curatorial team on supporting on Hayy Arts exhibitions and related programmes, including liaising with artists, contractors and workshop participants as required for the opening exhibition at Hayy Jameel and related curatorial and administrative tasks for all connected programmes including public programmes, publications etc.

Accountability
The Intern reports to the Exhibitions Department.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Take on administration-related tasks and projects for exhibitions at Hayy Jameel and connected programmes
- Liaise with artists, speakers and practitioners as needed
- Assist curators in the organization and production of the exhibition and related programmes
- Oversee the installation of art work and set-up of various workshops and assist in their facilitation.
- Support with administrative processing of artists, contractors, and participants and follow-up on payments in collaboration with the Art Jameel finance team.
- Conduct Hayy Arts tours for visiting children, families, and schools, and walk them through exhibitions
- Actively monitor exhibitions updates and ensure they are reflected on the Hayy Jameel website in collaboration with the communications team.
- Other duties as management deems fit
Working days: 5 days each week; including some Fridays and Saturdays
Qualifications and Experience
- University student or recent graduate
- Available full-time during the internship
- Natural leader with an entrepreneurial mindset and a passion for taking initiative
- Strong communications (verbal and written) skills and a positive and welcoming attitude.
- Excellent time management and organisation skills
- Passion for arts and arts education
- Saudi Nationals or Saudi residency holders
- Fluent in English and Arabic (spoken and written)
Working Conditions
- 3 months paid work experience based at Hayy Jameel, Jeddah
- Weekend shifts are expected with lieu days provided midweek
