Artist Spotlight: Photographer Banan Sindi

Through the lens of Hayy Jameel! Meet Banan Sindi, the talented photographer who is responsible for capturing moments all over the cultural complex.

Banan’s journey began in the vibrant streets of Jeddah. From a young age, she was inspired by the art of photography, and was captivated by her sister’s compact camera. What started as a playful exploration of capturing memories quickly blossomed into a profound passion for storytelling through images.

Banan’s unique perspective shines through her work, where she aims to capture genuine emotions and connections from what she finds around her. Her favorite memories at Hayy Jameel include bustling events such as the Farmer’s Market, where she found herself not only taking photos but also videos and editing them into beautiful montages.

With her trusty Sony a7S III in hand, Banan seeks out the beauty of natural light, particularly at Hayy Jameel’s community courtyard, Saha, during golden hour; her approach is deeply rooted in the belief that every photograph should invite viewers to experience a moment they might have otherwise overlooked.

Banan also embraces the power of social media, recognizing it as a vital platform for sharing her art and connecting with others. She encourages aspiring photographers to embrace their unique journeys, reminding them that it’s perfectly okay for things to unfold slowly. After all, it’s not just about reaching a destination; it’s about savoring the experiences along the way.

At Hayy Jameel, Banan has become a beloved collaborator, contributing her creativity to the community. Through her lens, she invites us all to appreciate the beauty around us and to celebrate life’s fleeting moments with authenticity.
