Government Relations Coordinator

About the role

The Government Relations Coordinator is responsible for managing Hayy Jameel’s relationships with government authorities and ensuring compliance with all statutory registrations, licences, permits and regulatory requirements. The role supports operational continuity by coordinating government approvals for day-to-day operations, public programming, commercial activities and special events, while maintaining accurate corporate records and ensuring all regulatory obligations are met. The ideal candidate, Saudi or Saudi-based, acts as the primary liaison between Hayy Jameel, relevant government authorities, ALJ Group functions and internal departments, ensuring government-related processes are effectively coordinated and compliance requirements are proactively managed.

Key Responsibilities

Government Relations
  • Serve as the primary liaison with government authorities and regulatory bodies.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with relevant ministries and public authorities.
  • Coordinate official government correspondence and regulatory submissions.
  • Represent Hayy Jameel in meetings with government entities where required.
  • Coordinate with relevant internal departments and ALJ Group functions, where required, to facilitate government-related processes, regulatory compliance and statutory approvals, escalating matters requiring management direction to the Head of Operations.
  • Support the Head of Operations in coordinating responses to government enquiries, inspections and regulatory matters involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Provide government relations support across Hayy Jameel, including to Human Resources and other departments, where required, to facilitate government-related processes, regulatory compliance and engagement with relevant government authorities.
  • Advise internal departments on government-related processes, regulatory requirements and approval pathways to support operational planning and informed decision-making.
  • Support the coordination of government approvals and regulatory requirements relating to the import and export of artworks, exhibition materials and operational goods, where required, in collaboration with internal departments and appointed service providers.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Manage all statutory licences, permits, registrations and regulatory approvals required for Hayy Jameel’s operations.
  • Maintain a master statutory compliance calendar covering all organisational licences, permits, inspections, certifications and regulatory obligations, ensuring all renewals and approvals are completed proactively and no operational activity is delayed due to expired or outstanding requirements.
  • Maintain a comprehensive compliance register and monitor all renewal deadlines.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and advise management on operational impacts and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct periodic compliance reviews and identify potential regulatory risks.
Commercial Registration & Corporate Records
  • Manage the Commercial Registration (CR), including renewals, amendments and updates.
  • Coordinate updates relating to company activities, National Address, authorised signatories and Chamber of Commerce registrations where applicable.
  • Maintain accurate records across all relevant government authorities.
Event & Programme Licensing
  • Coordinate government approvals for exhibitions, public programmes, screenings, performances, festivals, workshops and community events.
  • Obtain permits for temporary structures, filming, signage and other operational activities where required.
  • Work closely with Programming, Learning, Makers, Cinema and Operations teams to ensure approvals are secured in advance of delivery.
Municipal & Operational Licences
  • Manage municipal licences and approvals supporting operational activities.
  • Coordinate municipal licenses including Food & Beverage licences and approvals where applicable.
  • Liaise with Civil Defence and other authorities regarding operational compliance.
  • Support resident businesses with regulatory coordination where required.
Government Portals & Documentation
  • Manage organisational government portal accounts and electronic services.
  • Maintain secure records of licences, permits, certificates and government correspondence.
  • Coordinate document attestations, notarisation and official certifications.
  • Maintain an organised central repository of licences, permits, statutory approvals and regulatory documentation, ensuring records remain accurate, current and readily accessible for audit and operational purposes.
Government Inspections
  • Coordinate inspections by government authorities.
  • Support departments in resolving inspection findings.
  • Monitor completion of corrective actions.
  • Escalate inspection findings and compliance risks to the Head of Operations and coordinate corrective actions with relevant departments.
Reporting & Administration
  • Produce monthly compliance reports highlighting licence status, upcoming renewals, outstanding approvals, inspection outcomes, regulatory risks and corrective actions.
  • Maintain organised records of licences, permits, inspections and approvals.
  • Support departments by providing regulatory guidance during project planning.
  • Support the mobilisation of new operational initiatives, commercial activities and partnerships by identifying regulatory approvals and licensing requirements during project planning.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Law or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in Government Relations, Regulatory Compliance or Corporate Affairs.
  • Experience working with Saudi government authorities and electronic government platforms.
  • Experience within the cultural, hospitality, commercial or mixed-use property sectors is advantageous.

  • Strong planning and organisational abilities with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and statutory deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Arabic and English.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating across multiple departments.

Technical & System Proficiency

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
  • Experience maintaining compliance registers and digital document management systems.
  • Experience using Saudi government electronic platforms including Balady, Ministry of Commerce, Civil Defence, Municipality systems, Qiwa (where applicable), and other relevant government portals.
